I was going to finish the parasite quest to save the rat scientist from the pit. I made a new game save today and can load it and play it normally. I just can't play the old save files. Id rather not have to play through all of that again if I can avoid it.
Your save files are from too many versions back and isn't compatible anymore. If you're on desktop though, you can navigate to the folder with the missing file, and put a dummy file in there to trick the game into thinking everything's fine. Then just save your game and it should work.
I'm back (sorry for being gone for so long) and I was looking at the update/change logs and I've been seeing things about an "island". What's that about?
The Linux version didn't work for me, but the Windows version works great. Text is the perfect size, and controller support is built into the gave (I think I just selected the standard gamepad template); the only small issue I have is that loading the file list is slower (about 3-5 seconds to display the list) if there are about 20 or more saves (but you can just load the autosave instantly on startup).

Tips for new players accurate as a version 3.8... (and a question added for developer) question first to save the developers time. Why does a spell called drain not actually give the drainer the energy? That's how it works on final fantasy and every other game I've seen that ability on also rinny suggest it should be the same here but it doesn't recharge health at all.
Tips
Get stamina potions. Get empty bottles enter forest attack and defeat fairies out fairy dust in the bottles at work bench combine the fairy dust and the stamina potion to get stamina potion+ (recovers 20 stamina a potion) also increases the mystic ability by 3. Once you manage to get the hint about house special on the rocks fight and beat the female boss there to get a tech to recover 1 mp when guarding add gain 2 stamina (by attending medical class) and you can (if your resistance is high enough) block to regain health and mp, since you will continue to take attacks this rises your resistance and means you don't actually have to sleep when you are "Tired" instead sit gain stamina and recharge while growing stronger
If you plan to have a Fair-Play on the first playthrough Earn Bits to at least 3.5k so that you can Infinitely train Str, and Nim, in New Ark, both is a Massive part of the game and will help in nearly every Aspect.
The Min for bits is 2.5k for the Condo and entrance, after that you can either take A Permanent Gym pass, or a Temporary one, if you get tired you can just walk to the Condo and rest, then repeat the Process.
This will also Trigger Fawn, which is one of the Romancable NPCs, who is into Domming, or BDSM, for a simpler term.
2nd Rinny, will teach the Skills drain kiss, and shock which are Skills that will help for big fights like Mistrya, or that Flesh thing at the elevator.
Shock, can Stun enemies and deal Stamina Damage.
Drain Kiss, Deals both Stamina damage, and Erotic damage, but has no Debiliations.
Adding more to this... The stamina+ potions can be sold for double the price of the stamina potions bought in the slums so you turn 15 bits to 30 bits each sale while gaining mystic skill points. Though as an edit to FatGuy-Arch the reason I suggested Lin Lin and the teachers ability is because then you don't need an apartment.
The three milks, Angel, Devil, and Your, are some things that I've relied on quite heavily in my playthroughs. You can get Angel and Devil Milk for free over time from the Milk Farm after doing its event and finding cowgirls and appliances to make it better. The former reduces arousal, the later increases.
Your Milk is obtained from the Milk Pump when you milk into a bottle and heals a substantial chunk of health (100-ish iirc)at the cost of maxing out arousal, making it a great quick heal when in most places outside of battle when paired with Angel Milk. Make sure you have Bottles and remember that milking until your are dry will stop lactation.
I'll leave the utility of this info up to you. I slept on these items until after the current climax of Fawn's route.
Throwing fights is sometimes a great thing get a slime horny, then "surrender" the cat girls too (I keep male lovers off) so I rely on these to remove the aroused early in the game.

All I know is you can Replicate a Quality Pass, you need a Marker, a Shabby or any Doodoo Pass, and a Quality pass.

To a Table, Use a marker on any Doodoo Pass, ensure you have a Quality pass to Copy from to get a free Quality Pass.

Tips for new players accurate as a version 3.8... (and a question added for developer) question first to save the developers time. Why does a spell called drain not actually give the drainer the energy? That's how it works on final fantasy and every other game I've seen that ability on also rinny suggest it should be the same here but it doesn't recharge health at all.
Tips
Get stamina potions. Get empty bottles enter forest attack and defeat fairies out fairy dust in the bottles at work bench combine the fairy dust and the stamina potion to get stamina potion+ (recovers 20 stamina a potion) also increases the mystic ability by 3. Once you manage to get the hint about house special on the rocks fight and beat the female boss there to get a tech to recover 1 mp when guarding add gain 2 stamina (by attending medical class) and you can (if your resistance is high enough) block to regain health and mp, since you will continue to take attacks this rises your resistance and means you don't actually have to sleep when you are "Tired" instead sit gain stamina and recharge while growing stronger

If you plan to have a Fair-Play on the first playthrough Earn Bits to at least 3.5k so that you can Infinitely train Str, and Nim, in New Ark, both is a Massive part of the game and will help in nearly every Aspect.
The Min for bits is 2.5k for the Condo and entrance, after that you can either take A Permanent Gym pass, or a Temporary one, if you get tired you can just walk to the Condo and rest, then repeat the Process.
This will also Trigger Fawn, which is one of the Romancable NPCs, who is into Domming, or BDSM, for a simpler term.
2nd Rinny, will teach the Skills drain kiss, and shock which are Skills that will help for big fights like Mistrya, or that Flesh thing at the elevator.
Shock, can Stun enemies and deal Stamina Damage.
Drain Kiss, Deals both Stamina damage, and Erotic damage, but has no Debiliations.
Adding more to this... The stamina+ potions can be sold for double the price of the stamina potions bought in the slums so you turn 15 bits to 30 bits each sale while gaining mystic skill points. Though as an edit to FatGuy-Arch the reason I suggested Lin Lin and the teachers ability is because then you don't need an apartment.

The three milks, Angel, Devil, and Your, are some things that I've relied on quite heavily in my playthroughs. You can get Angel and Devil Milk for free over time from the Milk Farm after doing its event and finding cowgirls and appliances to make it better. The former reduces arousal, the later increases.
Your Milk is obtained from the Milk Pump when you milk into a bottle and heals a substantial chunk of health (100-ish iirc)at the cost of maxing out arousal, making it a great quick heal when in most places outside of battle when paired with Angel Milk. Make sure you have Bottles and remember that milking until your are dry will stop lactation.
I'll leave the utility of this info up to you. I slept on these items until after the current climax of Fawn's route.

Some fights it is better to just go for Stamina attacks, some do ignore Ero att, or some are just hard to beat with Ero att.
Throwing fights is sometimes a great thing get a slime horny, then "surrender" the cat girls too (I keep male lovers off) so I rely on these to remove the aroused early in the game.
